Autumn/Winter Forecast Competition
The Irish Met Society is pleased to announce that Rónán McLaughlin is the winner of our autumn/winter forecast contest. There were 29 entrants but Rónán won by a considerable margin.

(2) Date of the air first frost night (Sept – Dec 2009) *. (October 7th Mullingar)
(3) Maximum wave height at Buoy M4 in October 2009. (7.2m - October 3rd)
(4) Mean monthly temperature at Casement Aerodrome in November 2009. (7.4 C)
(5) Number of air frost nights at Mullingar in December 2009. (18 days: 1,4,12,13,14,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,31)
(6) Highest gust (October to December 2009 inclusive*). (22nd November Belmullet 72 Knots)
(7) Total rainfall in Valentia in October 2009. (205.1mm)
(8) Maximum air temperature in Dublin Airport in December 2009. (13.1 C on December 8th)
(9) No of snow days in October, November, December 2009 at Dublin, Cork, Shannon and Knock Airports (counted as one snow day if snow is reported at any of the 4 stations). (12 days: 17-25, 29-31 December)
