2009 IMS Photo Competition
The Irish Met Society ran their first photography competition this year and with 167 entries, it is safe to say that it was very successful. The winning photographs are displayed below.
The winning image, taken by Anthony Byrne, depicts the recent severe flooding. In direct contrast, Noel Browne’s photograph of a cold, dry, frosty morning in Fenor Bog won the prize for second place, while the wonderful image of the view of Classiebawn Castle in Sligo achieved third place.
The society would like to thank and congratulate all of the entrants. If you missed out on this opportunity, you may be pleased to learn that the European Meteorological Society is also running a photo competition, with prizes of 1200, 600 and 300 Euro for first, second and third places.
