IMS 2011/2012 Programme
October 13th 2011: An evening visit to Dunsink Observatory http://www.dias.ie/lang/en/cosmic/astro/dunsink.html. The evening will consist of a lecture by Prof. Tom Ray, a tour of the Observatory including the weather station and Grubb's telescope.
November 10th 2011: Met Éireann - A History - an evening to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Met Éireann.
Lectures by Prof. Peter Lynch, Gerald Fleming, Keith Lambkin and Tom Keane.
We have also prepared an exhibition on weather which will run from November 10th to 18th.
January 12th 2012: Hidden Treasures in Met Éireann's old manuscripts by Máiread Treanor, Met Éireann Librarian (a joint lecture with the Irish Environmental History Network).
February 23rd 2012: An Interview with Dr Tony Scott (former President of IMS, former President of the RDS, physicist, founder of the Young Scientist competition) - interview will be conducted by Evelyn Cusack.
March 22nd 2012: "The challenges in Predicting the Weather and Climate - for the Science and the Scientists" by Professor Paul Hardaker, Chief Executive Royal Meteorological Society.
