Photographic Competition 2015
The judges had this to say about this year's competition: "The photos were of a high standard and it was a challenge to select the top ten and even more so to pick the top 3. Many more were worthy of a runner up spot."
First Place : The Fairy's Rath by Conor McEneany
Conor gave us a liitle background about the photo: "Fairy's Rath is an image of a fairy tree located in Knockbridge, Co. Louth. It sits proudly on a hilltop commanding views of 5 counties on a clear day and is said to be 240 years old. Local farmer and gentleman Pat keeps a watchful eye over the tree and is happy to share some of it's history to visitors. This image was created by combining 6 individual shots to give a panoramic view with as much detail as possible."
Second Place : Colours Field by Vytenis Malisauskas
Here's how Vytenis came to take this image: "I was driving home from Ballycotton to Carrigaline and on the way next to Castlemartyr I noticed this view and had to stop to take a photo of the field. I used the Nikon D800 with Lee Filters, Hard Grad and Soft Grad".
Third Place : Black & White by Harry Reid
A few details from Harry about the photo: "The photograph was taken in Mt. Juliet Estate, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, during the January snowfall of 2010. Equipment used: a Nikon D700 with a Nikon 24-70 f2.8 lens. I think that's about all I can say, except that it was a freezing morning!!!".
